Old/New Business:

Mary Kent extended F.A.N.S.' appreciation to Joan Gory, Molly Schumate and others for their work supporting the craft show. It was a smashing success!

Bill Hofbauer detailed his work with the children at St. Vivian. He is getting to know the 370 students he meets once a week. He is starting to put names with faces. He gave us an overview of what's happening in music.

General Music
K,1,2,3 - music discovery- Christmas Music

4,5,6, - no involvement for Christmas- February concert is planned, American Music Heritage - music through time. (kids love rhythm Instruments)

7 & 8 - Broadway Show music, selections from West Side Story (looking to do some cartoon music study)

Concert Choir - first meeting went well

Strings - program has started.

Band - classes will begin in October. Flyers have gone out.

F.A.N.S. is looking for it's P&G survey money. Pam Friedhoff has initiated a search for funds we have earned.

Parish Picnic &endash; sack races, hammer toss, limbo, bubblegum blowing…Randy Kent organized the fun and Mary was kind to get little prizes at the dollar store. Thank you Mary and Randy.

Thanks to Amy Vonderhaar, Kim Neltner, Mary & Randy Kent and Polly Lacker for helping with Friday Night Flicks. Approximately 25-30 children attended.

All children in grades 6,7 & 8 need service hours now! Seventh graders need them in order to make their Confirmation. Children in all of these grades have been instructed to get more involved and to help their parish and community as part of their religious education.

Choral Risers - Randy Kent investigated risers. Risers are 72" long, $597.65. Same length safety bars are available for $224.00 apiece. Discussion of safety bar attached to risers. Should we order risers with or without factory-supplied bars? A vote was taken and it was unanimously approved to order risers with factory-supplied bars.

The Music Card - Sharon Meyer detailed the investigation and her findings about selling this card would entail as a fundraiser for our students. Discussion included on-line purchasing capabilities, percentage for F.A.N.S., and our kids' ability to sell it. We decided to shelve this for now. Thanks for looking into it Sharon! Mr. Hofbauer volunteered to check and see if maybe there was some kind of neighborhood card we could sell.

Art Room Window Walls - Ed and Kim Neltner brought a new project idea forward. Painting the concrete walls outside the art room. What a cool idea and great way for the kids to creatively add to their learning environment! Discussion about how it could be done ensued. Appropriate exterior paint, subjects, glazed tiles, who paints, who leads the expedition, etc. Kim was going to approach the art teacher. Michelle Frey, Amy Vonderhaar and Polly Lacker expressed interest in helping with this effort.

Motion to adjourn by Jerry Meyer. Seconded by Amy Zust.

Submitted by: Polly Lacker

(Please remember this is her 2nd attempt to write the meeting minutes. Polly would like to thank Michelle Frey for taking such good notes, as Polly was late. No comments about the tardiness issue, please.)
