Committee Reports

Treasurer Report:
Balance in checking is $5584.51

Balance in savings is $883.75

Our balance this same time last year was $4442.98.

Music Director's Report:

The Mighty Ducks have asked the Concert Choir to sing the National Anthem at the hockey game on 11/17/02. Mary Beth is investigating the possibility of borrowing ice skates from a local rink to be used by the kids for a skating party that evening.

Old Business:

Brenda Gallagher wanted to know if she should sell the extra FANS shirts at all FANS sponsored events. The Board agreed she should.

Mary Beth Khamis will contact Angie Birkhead-Flight about performing at a FANS sponsored event. It was suggested that her performance could be combined with a Catholic Schools Week kick-off or wrap-up fundraiser, such as a spaghetti dinner. FANS could sell her CD's at the fundraiser.

Everyone was impressed with the powerpoint presentation Randy gave at the parent's orientation meeting on August 19, 2002.

New Business:

Randy Kent proposed expanding Friday Flicks to once a month, with FANS members working on alternating months. It was received favorably and it was decided the first one will be held on 9/13/02. It was also suggested that in the future this event be held in the cafeteria. A set of rules will be set and made clear to the children attending each event to prevent the children from running around while the movie is being shown. Randy Kent agreed to chair this event.

Randy Kent suggested FANS purchase a computer projection system. The Board unanimously voted to spend up to $3000 on a system.

Mary Beth Khamis thinks the Concert Choir exchange with St.Joe's is more a school issue and not one FANS needs to be concerned with.

Randy Kent offered to teach art classes for interested students in October and November to start off the art classes FANS wanted to make available to the children. His topic for October would be how to apply Halloween makeup, and sculpting would be the subject in November. The dates have yet to be set.

Laura Herbe plans to make "save the date" fliers to pass out concerning the Halloween dance. The dance will be held in the cafeteria and will include a haunted hall. Reservations will be requested and it was suggested that FANS members get a 10% discount.

Mary Beth Khamis will see about firming up a date for the Variety Show.

Mary Beth Khamis plans on having a K-5 Christmas program and would like to have another event to highlight the different groups, such as the Concert Choir and new strings program.
