New/Old Business:
Mr. Hofbauer reported that the Concert Choir and Strings Christmas Concert was a success. In review, he thought we had a technical difficulty as strings parents left after their performance, as the concert was only halfway over. He wants to address this next year and suggests further study is warranted.Mr. Hofbauer also reports that he is having a 4th,5th, and 6th grade concert on February 8th. He is trying to get the kids to "buy" into it. The children have chosen their songs. All practices for these grades will be canceled.
Spring Musical - Mr. Hofbauer expressed his idea of possibly doing "Annie". He thought it might be a good choice since the Concert Choir has a much larger no. of girls. Bill expressed concern over his ability to direct play and is hesitant.. He feels confident in the musil direction.
Discussion ensued about ideas for other plays and possibility of another director helping Bill. S.Meyer expressed concern over the alcoholic characterization of "Rooster" with grade school children.
Other ideas - Into the Woods, Peter Pan - Should we do a smaller version or nothing at all - How about a variety Show?
No Musical this year.
8th Grade Talent or Variety Show - P.Lacker suggested maybe Mr. Hofbauer and some of the 8th gradestudents and parents look into the possibility of an 8th grade show. Mr. Hofbauer may talk to some of the students and send out a flyer, to see interest.
Art Room Mural Report - Kim Neltner has contacted Maxfield Ceramics in Blue Ash reported on the possible cost of materials and complexity of the project. Maxfield Ceramics was very helpful on providing ideas and knowledge about this type of project. An individual 4"x4" tile costs $1.50, 6"x6" tile costs $1.95, and firing fees would be 75 cents per tile. Projected glaze costs to be determined as each tile's artwork needs to be applied 3 times to fire and read successfully.

Music Scholarship - This idea was raised by Sharon Meyer and was of interest to many meeting attendees. Committee was formed to explore this idea further concentrating on the possibility of F.A.N.S. giving a music scholarship (undetermined amount of cash) to a departing 8th grader to be used in his or her studies during their high school years.
Criteria and application information need to be agreed upon and assembled. Ideas include submitting essays, a certain GPA, active participation in the arts, involvement in the arts programs at St. Vivian and possibly issuing an application form. Eric Price, Sharon Meyer, Michelle Frey, Molly Schumate and Brenda Gallagher expressed interest in this project.
Randy Kent investigated and researched FANS' purchase of a CD Player for the St. Vivian School's music department. Polly Lacker moved that we purchase one and Theresa McGoron seconded it.
Theresa McGoron moved that we close our meeting and was seconded by Eric Price.
