Article I. Name

The name of this organization shall be FANS - Fine Arts Need Support.

Article II. Object

The purpose of this organization is:

a. To sponsor and promote activities that involve the creative and performing arts for members of the parish and school, taking into account their spiritual and artistic development in Christ;

b. To provide an opportunity for children and students of the parish and school to engage in creative and performing arts under the supervision and guidance of elected or appointed adults; and

c. To raise funds for extracurricular school and parish creative and performing arts programs and activities.

Article III. Membership Eligibility

a. The membership of this organization shall be composed of those persons seeking to support the objectives of the organization as outlined in Article II of this Constitution. Annual dues must be paid to become an active member of the organization.

b. The current Music Director and Art Director of St. Vivian School, and any Technical Director involved with parish fine arts productions, whether an employee of St. Vivian's or working on such productions voluntarily, shall automatically be made honorary members of FANS.

c. Additional honorary memberships may be granted by a unanimous vote of the membership at attendance at any general membership meeting of the organization. Honorary members shall not be required to pay annual dues.

d. Dues-paying members and honorary members shall have the right to one vote per family and to make motions on all business conducted at the general monthly meetings.

e. Membership of any member can be suspended by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the FANS Board of Directors.

 

Article IV. Meetings

a. General membership meetings FANS shall be held monthly, September through June, regularly scheduled at a time and place decided upon by the Board of Directors and published in the church bulletin and monthly church calendar.

b. The Board of Directors shall meet at the discretion of the majority of the Board members or call of the President.

Article V. Officers and Board of Directors

a. The Officers of the Organization shall consist of: President, Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and Treasurer.

b. The Board of Directors shall consist of the five officers, up to six members-at-large (with the members-at-large always consisting of an even number), the Music and Art Directors at St. Vivian School and the Technical Director of productions. The officers and the members-at-large shall be voting members of the Board and shall be elected by popular vote as outlined in this Article and in the FANS By-Laws. The Music Director, Art Director and Technical Director will be non-voting appointed Board positions.

c. At the May meeting, the general membership shall elect the voting members of the Board of the Directors according to the procedure set forth in the FANS By-Laws. The Board of Directors will then be installed at the final meeting of the year in June.

d. The elected members of the Board shall serve for a term of two years, and without remuneration.

e. The Music Director, Art Director and Technical Director shall be ex-officio members of all appointed committees.

Article VI. Duties of the Board

The Board shall be responsible for:

a. Managing all funds and affairs of the organization.

b. Appointing chairpersons for special committees or projects proposed by the members of the organization.

Article VII. Amendments

This Constitution may be amended by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Board members present at any regular meeting provided that the proposed amendment has been read at the previous general meeting.
