Minutes
-We discussed adding “second Monday of each month” to the bylaws. We agreed, as a committee, to add this. - Next, Tim McManus and Gerry Michaud brought up the point that Fr. Paul wants to change the Holy Day mass schedule. The current schedule is as follows:
5:00 pm - Vigil
7:00 am
10:15 am - School kids
7:30 pm
Fr. Paul wants to make 5:00 pm Vigil start at 7:30 pm, eliminate the 7:00 am mass altogether, move the 10:15 am school mass to 8:15 am, and keep the 7:30 pm mass, making the schedule as follows:
7:30 pm - Vigil
8:15 am - School kids
7:30 pm
Concerns with this change are as follows: Will there be enough room for the adults at the school mass (8:15am)? Solution-The “L” is basically open except for Kindergarten and Grade 8. There is also room in the choir loft if necessary.
Gerry did his own little survey with various members of the congregation about how they would feel about this change. He received lots of approval. The only con was that someone mentioned that it would be hard driving at night in the winter. But we said that it gets dark at 5:00pm in the winter anyway.
As a committee, we approved of this Holy Day mass schedule change.
-Discussion about membership on Worship Commission mainly focused on setting specific terms for members and how we should select our members. According to the current bylaws, we can only have twelve members on Worship Commission at a time. We still need two members to join in order to reach our goal of twelve members. - We then appointed a subcommittee to develop options for membership. Jack Baker, Katie Barbara, and Evelyn Maag agreed to be on this subcommittee.
- Finally, each member present at the meeting was given the opportunity to express a goal which that individual would like to see Worship Commission to work for during the 2005-2006 season. The goals are as follows:
-- Deacon Larry Maag - One person performs one ministry only at each mass.
--Tim McManus - Implement Redemptionis Sacramentum and also to provide new hymnals for the pews.
--Julie Borgerding - Let’s get mass attendance up.
--Katie Barbara - Can we have a youth mass?
--Jack Treinen - Members of all ministries need to be informed of what they need to do and when they need to do it.
Next Meeting
The next meeting is Monday, October 10, 2005 at 7:00 pm in the Ursuline Hall.
For this meeting, please focus on the goals you would like to implement and read chapter 1 of Dies Domini, focusing on the understanding of Sunday.
