Other considerations:

Pack weight (with water) -New hiker 25% of body weight, conditioned hiker 30-40% of body weight

Pack heavy weight low in pack and close to the back/spine

Foot/ankle care; Hiking Boots/camp shoes

Terrain Analysis (difficulty, water supply, escape/abort routes)

Safety (buddy hiking, trailhead notices/registration, mirror, whistle)

Sharing (buddy hiking)

Weather analysis

Grazing vs. 3 square meals

Trail Conservation/litter control

Water Safety (pumps/filters, tablets, boil), advance preparation/source determination
