I would like to compliment Mr. Cavanaugh and all of the school staff for the overwhelming number of students (former and present) who attended the funeral Mass at the cathedral. Their presence and exemplary behaviour were a beautiful tribute to their love for Fr. Jack. It was always a joy to see their reaction when he walked into a room. I know that Fr. Jack was very proud of all of his children who came today to say good-bye to their beloved pastor.

I couldn't agree more, Mary Ellen. I had an opportunity to speak to Mr. Cavanaugh this evening and expressed my pride in the behavior of the children. I'm sure proper behavior for the mass was discussed at school, but the parents of these children have taught their children well and it showed. I have always been, am and always will be proud to be a member of St. Vivan's family.

Although I was unable to attend Father Jack's funeral I am sure your assessment, Mary Ellen, is accurate. As you told me many times as our children were growing up and attending St. Vivians, "Cream always rises to the top." The children and families of this parish have always been fine examples of Christians. And who could expect any less when we all had a exquisite example in our dear Father Jack. He walked humbly with God and showed us all they way.
