III. Old Business
A. Katrina Relief
We have been unable to arrange a connection with the original parish that Fr. Paul had contacted. Pat Youngblood of our AMOS core team visited St. Mary’s of the Angels in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans and has suggested that we “twin” with this parish. The Archdiocese will be contacted to find out the necessary procedure to follow. Dave Lennert reported that AMOS would be willing to be the “point group” for our parish to initiate this program.
B. Survey Summary and Recommendations
All of the completed surveys have been entered into the database. There were 244 responses to the 950 surveys that were sent out. The committee will bring to the Oct. 23rd meeting a summary of “what we’ve learned” and we will begin the discussion of “what do we do now” and begin to formulate the proposals for the 5 Year Plan.
C. Commission Reports
1) Education
Mary Ellen reported on the numbers for the school for 2006/2007, the new Service Partner program with Twin Towers, the increase in the number of teachers for the PSR program and the variety of family and adult faith formation programs that are being scheduled for the upcoming year.
2) Temporal Affairs
No meeting to report on.
3) Worship Commission
No meeting to report on.
D. Parish Picnic Options
Fr. Paul reported that the staff has been discussing the future of this event, including the location and format that it should take. Discussion has ranged from Stricker’s Grove to Parish Grounds (coordinating with the Picnic Under the Pines). Someone will need to step forward to coordinate this project before it can continue. Discussion was tabled to be continued with the Oct. survey discussion.
IV. NEW BUSINESS
A. Commission & Organization Liasons
The chart will be updated to place the newly elected members in the open spots.
B. Long Term Planning Update
Fr. Paul reported that we have been paired with St. Bart’s in the Futures Planning for the Diocese. They will be meeting to discuss Short Term and Long Term goals. Fr. emphasized that there are no signs of mergers near future.
Fr. Paul announced that Jeanne Schaeffer has been hired in a full time position to work with the Youth Ministry and also with the Network of Care.
The Parish website is being updated in a continuing effort to improve communications.
