Minutes of September 10:

Kathy Rothschild asked the minutes be corrected to show she had not volunteered to be responsible for photos of council members.   Tom Bove said he would be responsible for taking photos and making a collage of council members and posting it on the bulletin board and on the web site.  Mike McMahon will correct the minutes to reflect this.

Catholic Telegraph Subscription Drive:

The Archdiocese is trying to get all parishes at a 50 per cent subscription rate by July 1, 2001, with the possibility of mandating 100 per cent participation in the near future.  It was suggested that articles encouraging parishioners to subscribe to the Catholic Telegraph be published monthly in the bulletin. John Hadden will prepare the articles for the bulletin.

Mission Twining Project:

John Hadden brought the Council up-to-date on the Mission Twinning project.  Glenmary is waiting for a new representative to be named.   The Council needs to decide if Clintwood, Virginia is the right avenue for the parish or is there something in this area that Parish Council might consider.  Is there a commitment from the parish to make the project work?  The Plan has not evolved as Council had hoped.  A discussion followed as to what direction Parish Council should go.  Joe Zins suggested we wait and talk to Father Kramer.  Milt Partridge feels nearness is a significant factor.  Father Jack agreed to speak with various persons/offices of the Archdiocese and to ask for their suggestions.  Mike McMahon suggested a sub-committee should study the issue and report back to Parish Council.

Spirituality Opportunities:

A handout was given to members listing the various offerings which will be available throughout the year.  It will be important for parish council members to promote these opportunities and to attend when possible.  Programs should be promoted with special bulletin inserts.  Father Jack will ask Chris Siciliano to promote programs before or after Masses.

Donut Sunday Attendance:

Make McMahon suggested members attend these events with nametags and engage parishioners in discussions of parish life, bringing items discussed back to council meetings.  Suggestions were made as to how to engage people in conversation regarding parish matters.  Mike will call person in charge of coffees to determine when the next coffee will be held and when parish council can schedule one.  Also he will ask sponsoring groups if parish council members can attend their coffees and engage parishioners in discussion.

Open discussion:

Tom Bove suggested that committee liaisons be updated.  Mike will put this on the agenda for the next meeting.

Fran Geier asked if council might consider sponsoring an opportunity fair in the near future.  The last one was held in March 1999 and members agreed that it should be done again in the spring of 2001.

Suggestion Box:

Linda Lennon reported that no suggestions have been placed in the suggestion box.
