Members Present:

I. The meeting opened with the recitation of the Prayer for Vocations.
II. Dave Lennert moved, seconded by John Hadden to approve the minutes of the 02/27/06 meeting.
III. Old Business
A. Survey Update
They are currently entering data with the goal to be finished entering by the end of March to present preliminary results by the end of April. More than 300 surveys have been returned.
B. Commission Reports
1) Education:
The recent meeting included the presentation and approval of the 2006-2007 school calendar. Jodie Bender presented the results of the NCEA Standardized Religion tests taken by the 5th and 8th grade classes of the school and PSR.
2) Temporal Affairs:
Discussed the budget and new hymnals.
3) Worship Commission:
They are seeking a parish librarian to organize the books in the St. Francis/St. Clare room.
C. Katrina Relief
We will be partnering with Our Lady of the Lake parish in Delcambre, La. Their church building survived the hurricane but the rectory and parish hall received extensive damage. The pastor expressed the need for funding and skilled labor. He will compile a list of their needs and projects that need to be completed. Fr. Paul will work in a visit to Delcambre during his upcoming vacation in the South.
IV. New Business
A. Budget Presentation
Kathy Rothschild presented the budget from Temporal Affairs committee after many hours of painstaking trimming. Kathy went over every line of the budget and explaining any changes and answering all questions. There was an extensive discussion of decreased stewardship giving, changes in the local economy and the changing demographics of the surrounding community. She also presented the tuition amounts for the 2006-2007 school year which involved only a $100 increase from the current year. Parish tuition will be $2,375 and out of parish tuition will be $3,750.
Dave Lennert moved, seconded by Cindy Engelhardt to approve the 2006-2007 Budget as presented. Motion carried.
The council thanked Kathy and the Temporal Affairs committee for all of their hard work in “crunching the numbers” and trimming the budget as much as possible to keep the tuition rate competitive with the neighboring parishes.

Paul Hess moved, seconded by Star Vondrell to adjourn the meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 8:40 following a closing prayer.
