Opening:

Meeting was opened with prayer.

Old Business:

PPC Constitution and By-laws: The most recent drafts by the sub committee reviewing and updating the PPC Constitution and By-laws were distributed to new members, current members having received the drafts my email.
Discussion was held as to the voting status of the 4 newly elected council members and the 4 outgoing members. It was decided that the inclusive practice of previous years would continue inviting all members, new and outgoing to participate in voting, recognizing the overlap in Council year during June. The draft of the new PPC Constitution suggests that the Council term shall begin on June 1 and end on May 31 of the following year. However, the term of service for each outgoing member is to be extended one month to include membership and voting privileges for June of that year. This would allow for continuity and leadership transition and would follow long standing actual practice.

A suggestion was made that within Article XI of the draft of the by-Laws the $10,000 amount, over which Council should review a parish expense, be amended to read $5,000 thus aligning the practice with that of the parish business office policy.

Action: Discussion was tabled and further review and final approval of the PPC Constitution and By-Laws documents would be sought at a future meeting

Council / commission membership restriction: Discussion was held regarding the question of whether a married couple could serve on the same council or commission?
Action: Council saw no reason why married couples could not serve on the same council or parish commission nor was aware of any restriction to prevent this.

Council was asked to review the matter of the parish concern over the non-renewal of contract of Mary Beth Khamis.
Action: Council determined this matter internally be that under the purview of the Education Commission and transmitted this concern to that group. Externally, as the matter was one of parish personnel, a letter would be sent to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati stating the deep concern of the parish over this matter and suggesting Archdiocesan review.

Council was asked to review the matter of serious parish concern over recent and past negative interactions of pastor, Fr. John Kroeger with various parishioners. Of particular concern were his interactions with the youth of the parish and the possible violation of the Child Protection Degree policy of the Archdiocese. Father Kroeger had been specifically invited to attend this Council meeting to participate in discussion of these issues. Fr. Kroeger chose not to attend.
Action: After long discussion and reflection, Council voted to draft a letter to the Archdiocese of Cincinnati requesting that Fr. Kroeger be removed from his position of Pastor of St. Vivian Parish. Plans were made to meet, author and approve this letter on Thursday, June 10 at 7 PM.

New Business:

Publication: New PPC members were asked permission to add their names, email address, & phone numbers to the parish web page. (All members agreed)

Corrections were made the phone numbers for Fran Vanarsdall-Schwartz and Kathy Humbert. Cindy Engelhardt agreed to add her phone number to the bulletin faceplate.

Suggestions: there were no suggestions received since the last meeting.

Closure: The meeting concluded with prayer.
