St. Vivian Parish Pastoral Council Meeting - June 6, 2005

 

Members Present:  Fr. Paul, John Hadden, Teresa Besl, Kathy Humbert, Dave Nichols, Fran Vanarsdall-Schwartz, Vivian Wagner, Lisa Brackmann, Cindy Engelhardt, Star Vondrell.

 

I.               Fr. Paul opened with prayer

II.             John welcomed the newly elected members: Dave Lennert, Mary Ellen Smith, Jane Browe           

III.           Star Vondrell moved, seconded by Vivian Wagner to approve the minutes of the April 25, 2005 meeting.  Motion carried.    

IV.           Old Business

   a. Survey

Fr. Paul conducted the survey with the 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  Dave's committee will input the data, asking Darren Roll and Jean Margello's assistance.  Fr. Paul would like to see the survey completed by August.

After summer break, suggested changes to the parish-wide survey instrument suggested by Fr. Paul will be reviewed.

                b. Constitution & By-Laws

They are now ready for publication and distribution and will be put on the parish web-site.  Everyone was encouraged to read and be aware of the PPC role as set out in the documents.

V.             New Business

a.     Parish and School Models

The Diocese committee is continuing their study of the future of Catholic Schools and Parishes.  Hand-outs were distributed of materials to be shared throughout the diocese at meetings to be held this summer.  PPC members are asked to listen to the opinions of the parish members and bring these ideas to the August meeting.

b.     Officer Designations

Teresa Besl has agreed to step up to the position of President, having served as Vice-President.  Dave Nichols was nominated by Paul Hess (in absence) second by Star Vondrell for the position of Vice-President. Motion approved and  Dave accepted.  Kathy Humbert moved, seconded by Vivian Wagner to nominate Mary Ellen Smith as Recording Secretary. Motion approved and Mary Ellen accepted.

c.     Picnic Under the Pines

Fr. Paul commented on the success of the Picnic Under the Pines held June 4, 2005 and suggested the event be repeated.

VI.           Suggestion Box

a.     A letter was received requesting that the minutes be posted as soon as they are approved.

b.     A request was received asking for a Mass with limited singing. John Hadden voiced his gratitude to those members leaving council for their time of service to the Parish and to Teresa Besl for providing the meal at tonight's meeting.

VII.         Adjournment

Vivian Wagner moved, seconded by Kathy Humbert to adjourn.  Meeting closed with prayer at 9:08.
