ST. VIVIAN PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
January 28, 2002
Opening Prayer:
Craig Kowalski let the members in prayer and reflection.
Council members were given an overview of the parish website by Tom Bove and Kevin McMackin.
Approval of Minutes:
The minutes of the December 3 meeting were approved as written with the following amendments: Stewardship Update: 2nd paragraph should read: "Mike Gallagher suggested a parent-school night " the last sentence in the Parish Debt paragraph be eliminated. The minutes were approved as written with these amendments.
Parish Web Site:
Parish Council members approved making a statement on the website stating that offensive information submitted to the email list will not be published. While computer classes are being offered to parishioners and have been well attended, Tom Bove hopes to also do some informational meetings on the parish website.
Response to Tim's Talk:
As a result of Tim Barry's talk at Saturday/Sunday Masses, 30 parishioners have volunteered for the twining project. The priest from Harlan was unable to come in January and is now scheduled to speak to the parish April 13-14.
Volunteer Fair:
Tim Barry is working on setting up the Volunteer Fair. It was decided to hold the fair in the breezeway and hallway April 13-14 in conjunction with a scheduled coffee/doughnut weekend and the visiting priest from Harlan. Tom Bove will plan an organizational summit meeting. Someone will be contacted to organize the set-up for the Volunteer Fair.
Discernment Sunday:
Discernment Sunday will be held either the weekend of March 3 or 10. Those members going off council in conjunction with the Education Committee and the rectory will put together a list of possible candidates. Election will be held in May. Those members leaving council are:
Milt Partridge, Fran Geier, Craig Kowalski and Kevin McMackin. In addition to the bulletin, the list of candidates will be put on the website.
Suggestion Box:
There were no suggestions received.
Open Discussion:
Tom Bove asked about the possibility f having an evening Mass one night a week during Lent. Joe Staneck will give the suggestion to the Worship Commission.
Kathy Rothschild announced that the stewardship budget is over the budgeted amount by $6,000. She has recently met with a Springfield Township development group to discuss the development of the Warder Nursery area. There will be a meeting February 27 to discuss possible uses of the property. Various plans are on the Springfield Township website.
In answer to a question about the status of the parish directory, it is thought that it should be available by April.
The meeting was adjourned with a prayer.
