II. Minutes were approved as corrected for spelling and one clarification on midnight shut down rule for use of facilities. Motion by Lisa Brackman, second Dave Nichols.
III. Old Business
a. Open Discussion
John received 5 letters copied to the Parish Pastoral Council and sent to Fr. Paul requesting that Fr. Paul reconsider his decision to non-renew Mrs. Margello’s contract. All were sent prior to Fr. Paul’s 2/17/05 meeting with Mrs. Margello at which time that decision was rescinded.
Fr. Paul shared his reflection on the experience and will look into an instrument to use for a bi-annual evaluation of all staff members. He will consult with the archdiocese to see what is currently available.
IV. New Business
a. Futures Commission (Fr. Paul).
The commission is currently discussing the possibility of a Lay Administrator for each parish with a priest assigned to a group of parishes for sacramental/spiritual aspects. They have chosen this model but there is not yet a plan of how this would work. There are no current discussions of parish or school closures. The “bottom line” is that we all need to be praying for the decisions made by this Commission.
b. Survey
Dave Nichol’s committee met and questions were drafted with 2 possible surveys written that were distributed and discussed. A target date of April 10th was discussed to survey the adults of the parish. It was suggested that Fr. Paul go to the individual classrooms to discuss the survey with the students in 6th-8th grade who will complete the student survey.
c. Discernment Sunday
Volunteers were acquired for each of the masses to supply papers and pencils in each of the pews and to straighten up after the masses. Amy, Kathy, Fran and Vivian will comprise the election committee. Fr. Paul distributed a timeline leading up to the elections 5/22/05.
d. By-Laws/Constitution
Paul Hess will go over the final draft for grammar and spelling corrections before posting the final copy on the website.
V. Suggestion Box
Two questions were directed to Fr. Paul who will address the individual’s questions.
VI. Adjournment
Kathy Humbert moved, seconded by Vivian Wagner to adjourn the meeting. Meeting was closed with a prayer at 9:10.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Ellen Smith
