III. Old Business
A. Twinning
Jeanne Schaefer reported on her recent trip to New Orleans where she was able to meet Msgr. Gautraeux and members of our twinning parish, St. Maria Goretti. Their church buildings have been repaired and they are now able to hold regular Sunday Masses there, however most of the parishioners' homes are still uninhabitable.
B. St. Vivian/St. Bart Collaboration Update
1. Mike Ward and Fran Schwartz attended a recent St. Bart’s festival committee meeting and traded several helpful ideas. They recommend that other organizations consider doing the same.
2. The youth groups from the two parishes are currently planning a joint Mission trip.
C. Survey Output - Next Steps
Jane, Mary Ellen and Deb wrote Thank You notes to all of the people who included their names on their surveys and several positive comments have been received form those recipients.
D. Commission Reports
1) Temporal Affairs: No meeting
2) Worship Commission: A 7th grade student has asked to be able to join the Ushers ministry at the 11:30 Mass. New communion vessels have been donated and will be blessed at the Holy Thursday Mass. Greg reported that Buzz Hood, donor and artist of the current vessels, would like to recondition them and donate them to a mission church.
3) Education: No meeting
E. Doughnut Sunday reminder - March 11
The PPC and Education Commission will co-host the 3/11/07 Doughnut Sunday. This is also Discernment Sunday.
F. Vice President
There is a need for someone to fill the role of Vice President for the remainder of this year (thru June). Dave Nichols was nominated for this.
IV. New Business
A. Request for AED
Jane shared an email from Dan Valerio, President of Boosters, regarding the Booster Board’s discussion of the purchase of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) for St. Vivian. Fr. Paul mentioned that the school may already be purchasing one through a Grant. These are estimated at approximately $4,172.
B. Update on Mass Schedules
There was a lengthy discussion about the possible need to drop one weekend Mass due to the lack of lay ministers to support 4 Masses. Greg Hogg suggested that Fr. Paul speak at the Masses and in the bulletin to address this shortage and give parishioners a chance to step forward to meet these needs. This will be done prior to making this decision.
C. Discernment Process
Forms will be in the pews Sunday, March 11 for nominating candidates for Parish Pastoral Council and the Education Commission.
V. Suggestion Box
None
VI. Adjournment
With a reminder of the “homework reading assignment” the meeting was adjourned following a closing prayer. Next meeting is 3/26/07 and will be the Evening of Discernment for those considering being a candidate in the upcoming elections.
