St. Vivian Parish Pastoral Council Meeting

April 28, 2003

 

 

Meeting was opened with prayer in the chapel, led by Linda Lennon

 

Members Present: Father Paul, Tim Barry, Kathy Rothschild, Vivian Wagner, Don Schaeper, Joe Staneck, Kathy Humbert, Judy Hampel, Linda Lennon, Fran Vanarsdall-Schwartz, Ed Holzschuh and Tom Bove

 

1. Budget discussion led by Kathy Rothschild. - Detailed spreadsheets were distributed outlining the many areas of the budget.

A. The income page was explained and questions were accepted. There were no questions.

B. The expense page was discussed and questions were accepted. There were no questions. (With the exception of someone asking if the security system was covered in the budget. That was discussed during a later part of the meeting.)

C. Tuition for 2003-2004 school year. This has not be published yet, but is still being discussed. It is looking like there will be an increase of $150 per student. Percentage discount for multiple students will be the same.

D. School enrollment for next year is currently stable. Mr. Cavanaugh is pushing to increase enrollment over the summer.

 

2. Budget was approved by PPC.

 

3. Security system update

A. Cost will be $30 monthly and installation will be just under $25000.

B. ADT System has capabilities for future; add key cards, buzz in and out of school or full building etc.

C. For initial phase, overnight alarm service will be in effect. Can set the alarm according to zones around the building and complex.

D. Alarm system approved by PPC. This plan has to be submitted to the Archdiocese for final approval.

E. Funds for this expenditure will come from the General Operating budget or Festival Funds.

 

4. Update regarding Bill Lonneman

A. Father Paul discussed the process and means by which he had to make this decision. Archdiocesan office was involved in the process.

B. There was a discussion of the need to trust those in charge, etc. Look for the good in a not so good situation.

 

 

5. Election process update

A. 6 candidates for PPC

B. 5 candidates for Education Commission

C. Information about candidates will be in bulletin on Mothers' Day weekend

D. Elections will be on May 17 and May 18, ballots will be counted following all masses

 

6. No suggestions from the suggestion box.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 8:45pm

 

Next meeting: June 2, 7pm
