ST. VIVIAN PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING
April 23, 2001
Members Present:
Father Jack Filippine, John Hadden, Peg Mersch, Milt Partridge, Fran Geier, Tim Barry, Kevin McMackin, Mike McMahon, Tom Bove, Ed Holzshuh, Craig Kowalski, Kathy Rothschild.
Minutes of March 26:
Mike asked for approval of the March minutes. Peg Mersch made a motion to accept the minutes as written; Milt Partridge seconded the motion. The motion was approved.
Parish Reports:
Mike announced that several candidates came to the April 4 discernment evening. Approximately ten persons have agreed to be candidates for Parish Pastoral Council and eight for the Education Committee.
Kirk Vonderhaar gave a report to Council regarding the up-coming festival. He announced several new items being added this year and mentioned that there will be some changes in table and chair locations. Volunteers are still needed and a co-chair, who will become next year's chair, is still needed.
Kathy presented the 2001-2002 budget to Council and reported that a 3% increase in stewardship will be needed. John Hadden made a motion to accept the budget, seconded by Peg Mersch. Kathy was thanked for a job well done.
The tuition rate for the 2001-2002 school year will be $1,579 for parishioners; $2,950 for non-parishioners. Letters announcing the increase are being sent to parents. These rates will also be published in the bulletin.
Four hundred persons have signed up to date to have their pictures taken for the parish photo book.
Future Planning:
Members presented the following ideas for discussion at the planning meeting in June.
Emphasize communicationContinue to work on parish mission project
Become more focused on agenda items
Address racial unrest
Address long-range plan on how to remain financially sound
Impress upon all parishioners the need for a broad spectrum of parishioners to be involved in the parish
Open Discussion/Walk On Items:
A representative from AMOS will attend the June 4 meeting.
New council members will also be welcomed at this meeting.
