Welcoming/Opening Prayer
Meeting was called to order by Chris Monzel. A scripture from Matthew 32:34 was read.
Secretary's Report
Meeting minutes from 9/15/04 were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer's Report
Account balance is $8,917.45. Total expenses for the month are $2,511.85. Total deposits for the month are $8,385.59. Money is still coming in for the Sally Foster fundraiser. Mike Ward inquired as to whether PTA should generate a budget for review purposes and to track progress towards meeting yearly goals. Janine Winters to generate an outline of expenses that were incurred during the 2003-2004 school year.
Pastor's Report
Fr. Gebhardt was not in attendance. His last day for fulfilling LaSalle High School duties is November 28.
Principal's Report
The school is finishing the Terra Nova tests in Grades 2, 4, 6, and 8.Board approved an expenditure of $75 to help pay for a play that was seen by the entire school on October 8th.
Old Business
A. Sally Foster SalesPick-up of purchased items will be on 10/28 (2:30 pm to 6:30 pm) and 10/29 (8:00 am to 9:30 am and 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm) in Ursuline Hall. The truck will deliver the gift wrap at 11:30 am on 10/28. Junior High students will be asked to assist in unloading the truck during their lunch hour.
B. Halloween Pumpkin Carving
This activity will be held on Thursday, October 28th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria. Chris Monzel is organizing the event. A flyer announcing the event will be sent home in Friday's school packets. Julie Bergmann sent a letter to families new to the school inviting them to the activity.
C. Pancake Breakfast with Santa
Heather Batdorf is organizing this event to be held on Sunday, December 5th, after all Masses. The templates are ready for requesting donations from area businesses. A letter will be sent to school families asking for volunteers. The guest of honor still needs to be confirmed.
D. COSI on Wheels
This activity will be held on Monday, December 6th. Kathy Raffenburg is contacting volunteers to inform them of the hours their assistance is needed. Jean Margello is working on a schedule to allow students to get the hands-on experience of the program.
E. School Directories
The list is at the printers and should be coming out shortly.
F. PTA Newsletter
Amy Grider to send out a newsletter next week communicating information on PTA-sponsored events (i.e., funds for visiting play, Pumpkin Carving, Sally Foster fundraiser, etc.).
New Business
A. FundraisingA discussion was held regarding the number of fundraising events the PTA is sponsoring. Various options exist that would allow money to be generated. There is concern that PTA may be requesting too much from school families. The board agreed to communicate to the school the availability of bracelets for the Tri-County Shopping Night to be held on Sunday, November 14th (100% of sales go to the school). The board also agreed to sponsor a night at Chuck E Cheese (where 10% of the sales spent that night go to the school) as more of a social event. Date of event to be announced at a later time. Board members also discussed the idea of creating a Playground Fund. Mike Ward to discuss feasibility of adding playground equipment with Kathy Rothschild.
B. General PTA Meeting Ideas
The board discussed various ideas for the General Meeting. Date has been tentatively scheduled for February 23. Chris Monzel to contact several local celebrities to inquire as to their availability.
C. Teacher's Wish List
Jean Margello will generate a new wish list from the teachers (that lists both what the teachers personally need as well as what the whole school would benefit from). The information will be communicated at the November board meeting.
D. Thanksgiving Day Race
The school is stuffing envelopes again for the race as a service project. Volunteers are welcomed for helping race day and for participating in the race, with the PTA receiving a portion of the funds raised.
Other Business
A. Donut SundayPTA will be responsible for Donut Sunday on April 10th, 2005 This will allow advertisement of the upcoming Walk-A-Thon fundraiser. Donuts have to be paid for up front and then the receipt is turned into the Rectory for reimbursement.
B. Snack for Teachers on Conference Days
Shelley Hoesl will send an email to solicit board members for food to provide teachers dinner on Monday, November 22.
