4) FATHER JACK

He spoke about the upcoming mission taking place November 6th and 7th during mass and November 8th &endash; 10th . No meetings will take place that week to encourage parish participation. (With the exception of Cub Scouts, already scheduled).

Jodie Bender is now with St. Vivians full time. She will be splitting her time between the youth group and helping with Religious Education.

The school roof needs to be replaced and the estimated cost is $100,000. Possiblity of doing school in two parts, to help with cost.

He spoke about stewardship. The church sent out 1000 stewardship cards, with a goal of receiving 750 responses. To date, 537 families have responded.

Father Jack expressed happiness with Kevin Vance and the way school was proceeding so far this year.

5) PRINCIPAL

Mr. Vance apologized regarding the change in PTA meeting nights.

Piles of Pennies is going well. Kids will count change. He expressed thanks for the money to replace chairs and furniture in a few of the classrooms. Thank you card from Miss Guerity and students for new furniture. He spoke about the students enthusiasm over the service projects. October's faculty in-service day topic was technology. Facilitator to help with next year's inspection. Vision statement showed that St. Vivian Parish/School is caring, family oriented, successful learning, preaching responsibility and nurturing our children.

He brought up the money for Music, Art and PE teachers. PTA paid for extra days needed for these subjects, for example: PE went from 2 days to 3 days. Apparently we are meeting the bare minimum for time spent in these subjects and in some grades even less. We may need to increase PE and Music teachers to full time and bring the Art teacher in a few more days/month. Computer lab was brought up by Theresa Eve. Mr. Vance said that the computers are usable for some word processing and includes Windows 95.

He is currently meeting with a group regarding upgrading the computers. Resource person in computer lab is Sandy Chance and she is currently work one full day and one half day per week. Mr. Vance would like to see all of the teacher's salaries go through the school budget.

Agreed to give Library $500 and art teacher $500 for supplies. He realizes that a few time sensitive fliers did not go out on time, but they will try to do better. The policy change of not changing for gym for grades K-3 was brought up. Mr. Vance said that the teachers wanted this change, since it was taking too long for the kids to change. Parents complained that the uniform pants were getting ruined during gym. Mr. Vance will think of a solution with this problem.
