Board Meeting Minutes
October 17, 2001
1) WELCOME/OPENING PRAYER
Bridget welcomed everyone and Father Jack led the Board in prayer. Those in attendance:

2) SECRETARY'S REPORT
The minutes from the previous meeting were accepted as is and I reported that copies were now being sent to the correct parties and being posted.
3) TREASURER'S REPORT
a) Fran Vanarsdall passed out a sheet with our expenses and balances for the month. Expenses: $83.71, Checking Balance: $3712.00 and Savings Balance: $2863.78. The Finance Committee has not billed us for our September and October commitments to the school. Fran will look further into this.b) November and December are bonus months for Market Day if we reach a certain number of items ordered.
4) FATHER JACK
a) Fr. Jack reported that on November 4th at 7:00 p.m. there would be a "Talk on Islam" given by a member of the Mosque. November 12th will be a talk on "Working Your Way Through September 11th." This will be given by Ken Czillinger also at 7:00 p.m. at the church.b) Jerry Combs has had a stroke. He is currently at Twin Towers on Hamilton in College Hill. He is going through therapy.
c) The Boosters are going to be adding more padding under the basketball hoops.
d) The Bricks for Mrs. Dodd's Memorial will be on sale starting October 20th.
5) PRINCIPAL
a) Mr. Cavanaugh will be discussing the school dismissal situation in the back with Springfield Township. He would like to move the buses to the front to alleviate congestion in the back and make it safer for car riders.b) High School night well on the 10th. Several Schools were represented.
c) The computer program is up and running with Bridgett Raffenberg working with the children several days per week.
d) The Accreditation committee had their first day completed by our meeting. Mr. Cavanaugh reported so far so good.
6) GENERAL BUSINESS
a) PTA voted to cover a minimum of $2500 of the $5000 Full Service Network system on the computers. PTA will address the balance later when funds are more plentiful. This assistance will be for this year only.b) The teachers have requested ceiling fans for their classroom. Since the gym was added on the air does not circulated well in the grade 1-5 area. Quotes are going to be obtained before PTA decides on project.
c) Bridgett had some teacher questionnaires for the playground committee as to what the teachers would like to have for the children.
d) Innisbrook Wrap is going well. No problems thus far.
e) Everybody Counts will be moved to January or February so that enough volunteers are available.
f) School Directory will be ready by the end of October. We ordered approximately 330 copies.
g) The Pancake Breakfast date has been set for April 21st.
h) Some ideas for General PTA meetings this winter are the Internet Safety and College Funding.
i) Santa Shop is on schedule.
j) The first St. Vivian's ornament project will begin November 5th. Flyers were reviewed and the price will be $5.00.
7) NEW BUSINESS
a) A letter was suggested for obtaining Prize contributions for future events. Sue CaJacob has offered up the first prize for some future event &endash; Bus rental.b) Sue CaJacob mentioned that one of the parents suggested that we have a Trunk or Treat Halloween for the kids this year. Other ideas were also discussed. Mr. Cavanaugh said he would discuss with the teachers.
c) ANY PARENTS THAT WORK WITH THE CHILDREN AT SAINT VIVIANS AS VOLUNTEERS ARE REQUIRED TO TAKE A "CHILD PROTECTION CLASS." The next class is scheduled for November 13th.
