Principal's Report:

Driveway and Traffic - The back driveway will be widened soon and the new traffic flow is working well.

Resource Book - Copies for teachers are being made and the book will be used for Career Day.

Discipline Policy - The new discipline policy is going well with more academic referrals vs. behavior referrals. Various programs are being explored including study skills group in

which St. Xavier and Roger Bacon students may assist with, a homework group, and a social skills program.

Grant Committee - Three technology grants were written and in November we will be notified if St. Vivian was awarded these. Future goals of the committee include looking into wiring for a phone and computer system.

Security and Safety - Five walkie-talkies were purchased. Continued efforts for safety in school will be explored.

Parent Resource Room - This is being looked into. Parents could assist with work for the school/parish and have a VCR if they have children. Space is an issue.

Gifted Resource Library - This would extend and expand knowledge base and curriculum and is currently in the process of being started.

Playhouse in the Park Program - Mr. Cavanaugh explained the program that will benefit all children at St. Vivian School. The cost of the program is $285.00. Ms. Vandarsdall-Schwartz motioned to approve PTA paying for the programs and Ms. Stragand made a second motion and the motion was passed.

Student Council - Mr. Cavanaugh indicated he is open to this idea but would need a parent in charge, including running the meetings. He will include information about this, in the school packet, in attempts to get a couple of parents who would be in charge of the program.

Old Business:

1. Principal's Wish List - Ms. Parker received these today and will organize information received and present at the next meeting.

2. Teacher's Request - Ms. Parker will review the requests and present at the next meeting. The PTA's teacher representative will be Ms. Molly Schumate. Even though Ms. Schumate is a teacher representative, she started as a parent representative and because of this, she will continue as a voting member.

3. Innisbrook Wrap Sales - Ms. McGraw will assist with transitioning this responsibility to Ms. Winters who will begin taking this over next year.

4. Everybody Counts - Ms. Rutz reported this is going well. Presenters are scheduled for next week and there are a lot of new volunteers. Follow-up speakers are scheduled for the week of  10/28/02.

5. School Directory - Ms. Siegel is currently working on this.

6. Pancake Breakfast - Will occur in February.

7. Ad Request from Boosters - The ad was shown.

8. General PTA Meeting and Program Ideas -

a.) Halloween - It has been approved for trunk or treat. Parents can use cars and decorate their areas and give out candy. It was also suggested to have a parade for the younger students. A discussion about having a black and orange day - no costumes occurred. It was suggested students pay money or bring in a canned food item if they dress in orange and black.

b.) Internet Detective - This was discussed as a program for parents. Ms. Flick will look into this and get back with Mr. Cavanaugh.

c.) Parent/Teacher/Student Involvement - A discussion to increase involvement in this area occurred. A Thanksgiving lunch and mass inviting family members was suggested. Ms. Winters will coordinate this with Mr. Cavanaugh.

d.) Awards Ceremony - Several suggestions were made. Mr. Cavanaugh welcomes input on this topic and will talk to staff. He stressed the importance of recognizing all students.

e.) Publicity - Ms. Phillippi will be getting information about the school out both locally and nationally. Ms. Phillippi indicated she needs to be given information on things occurring with the school.

New Business:
