He updated us on the roof replacement, which will now be done after the festival instead of the Christmas break as originally planned. Paul will check roof and patch when needed throughout the school year.

Scot Buzza (Music Director) is having problems with the organ. He is getting shocked when playing the organ. He will have a demonstrator during the holidays and is hopeful to get a donation.

The Health Inspector closed the concession stand down (Hot food) until the sink gets installed.

The mission went well, with a turn out of 350-400 people.

Dan Besl is forming a group in order to adopt a mission. Possibly a mission in Alabama or Mississippi

John and Patty Hadden will have new selections for the Grocery Certificates. The certificates will be expanded to include such places as, Fridays, Applebees, etc.

5) PRINCIPAL

The Archdiocese is pushing for all schools to "lock down" all exterior doors during school hours. Mr. Vance would like input on some suggestions, such as, a buzzer like the one in the rectory, a camera, etc.

According to Mr. Vance the Health Inspector closed the concession stand down completely until we have the sink installed and obtain a license. He also halted the use of the dishwasher in the cafeteria, since the water temperature is not hot enough to properly clean and sterilize the trays/dishes. The dishwasher is 15 years old, so they are trying to decide if we should replace the dishwasher or get a new pump for the dishwasher. A plumber will determine whether or not a boost will work. On November 17th they started using Styrofoam trays until they can get the dishwasher fixed. The trays cost 2 cents/tray. He would like to see if there is a paper alternative for trays, since Styrofoam is not biodegradable.

He is waiting for two more proposals from computer companies. The computers in the computer lab are being used for word processing. Mary Kent donated four computers, but they are still in need of monitors.

He brought up a program in which the government gives money to schools for Drug & Alcohol Resistance.

The programs differ according the age group. The 7th and 8th grades will be going to Camp Campbell Guard for creative problem solving. This involves high and low ropes, obstacle course and other challenges.

6) OLD BUSINESS

a). Everybody Counts-went well with a good response. Follow up speakers will be in this week. Teachers liked the program.

b). Santa Shop-will be held in the Art Room on November 30th and December 1st. The supplies came in and the envelopes will go out this Friday to the students. Mary Jo has plenty of workers.

c). Christmas Tree-Sally Merkle has not heard back from Mrs. Dodd on how she would like to handle the ornaments. Other suggestions made regarding ornaments: possibility of Kindergarten class making ornaments. Sally would like to put the tree up after Thanksgiving.

d). Breakfast with Santa-December 5th after all masses. Notice will be in bulletin the week of and before he pancake breakfast. Note on marquee the week before.

e). Plastic bag recycling-Joan Eckart spoke with the chairperson of this program at St. Barts. Apparently there is pretty much work involved with cleaning and folding bags. PTA board decided to pass on this fundraiser.

7) NEW BUSINESS

a). Christmas Dinner for Teachers-PTA will give teachers $250 to have a party. Teachers are still discussing party arrangements. Mary Jo Heekin will donate Market Day pies for party.

b). Catholic Schools Week-will be the week of January 31st. Plans to be made to supply ice cream for all students on the last day which is February 4th. Need to get at least 425 individual ice cream cups.

c). Ice Cream Social-Tom Bemmes the magician will be the entertainment for this years Ice Cream Social.

d). Market Day-made $680 last month partially due to the pie promotion. Next months focus will be on roasts.

e). Thriftway School Pal's program-need to check with the Haddens regarding Thriftway certificate response in order to see if program would be worthwhile to start.

f). Where should our money go? - new computers will cost approximately $30,000 range for three year commitment, which is the standard lease time with most companies. Math/Science enrichment was brought up, according to Mr. Vance, last year's instructor felt that the students were already learning most of the enrichment course studies in school. Languages taught during school hours? It would need more tuition money and longer school day to accommodate this. Mr. Vance feels that the biggest expenses the school has are salaries and the new computer system.

8) OTHER BUSINESS

a). Mrs. Ortman/Answering Machine-people concerned with use of answering machine and are afraid messages might not get delivered on time. Mr.Vance will look into this, but feels that Mrs. Ortman is doing a fine job of getting the messages picked up and delivered on time.

b). Preschool Reward-the Preschool teachers requested a possible reward for the preschool since they brought in over $800 in sales for the Innsibrook fundraiser. They would like $50 to purchase a tube crawler. Money okayed.

c). Gym uniform-all students will change into gym clothes for physical education starting December 1st.

d). Survey-103 people qualified for the juice survey, school will receive $10 for each juice questionnaire completed and turned in.

9) ADJOURNMENT - The meeting was adjourned at 8:35.

NEXT MEETING - Tuesday January 18th in the Ursuline Hall at 7:00 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,
