5) PRINCIPAL
Mr. Vance relayed a message from Fr. Jack that the school roof will be under construction starting on June 12th. The time frame for the roof replacement will be around 3-4 weeks. This will give limited access to that part of the building during this time. The goal is to have this finished before Vacation Bible School in mid July.He received good response from parents in regards to the children being detained due to robbery suspects in the Finneytown area. Since he did not receive notification until approximately 2:10 PM, he was unable to utilize the emergency phone chain.
He felt that the K-5 musical performance went well. The gym was on the hot side, but they are looking into ways to deal with this in the future. The billing set up with C.G. & E. gives us a certain time when we can and cannot use the air conditioning.
He will have more information later regarding the totals from Piles of Pennies.
He is excited about the reorganization of the Jr. High for next year, which will now include the sixth graders. He feels this will be a big plus for our school. They are still working out details regarding how they will handle Parent/Teacher Conferences in the fall.
We will have a new P.E. Teacher next year, who will work 4 days/week in Physical Education and will help assist Mr. Vance in the lunchroom.
Mrs. Hoagland will be with us 5 days/week and will also work in the Computer lab as a computer resource person.
There will be several changes in teachers next year, including one teacher who will be retiring.
He will announce at a later date.
Enrollment for next year is approximately 410, which is up from this year. First grade is currently at 30 students.
6) OLD BUSINESS
a). Ice Cream Social-entertainment by Tom Bemmes was good. Ice cream left over will be offered to use in concessions during the Jr. High Musical.b). Walk-A-Thon went well with great weather. So far a little over $9000.00 has been turned in. Have not received much from the 7th and 8th graders. Polly heard that St. Margaret Mary held their Walk-A-Thon on the same day and raised over $20,000.00. There was discussion regarding the minimum/family, possibility of putting the money towards a specific thing to encourage a better response.
