WELCOME/OPENING PRAYER

Bridget welcomed everyone and led the Board in prayer. Those in attendance:

SECRETARY'S REPORT

Attendance Sheet was passed around. Minutes were accepted.

TREASURER'S REPORT

Fran presented her report. 7th grade had a bus paid by PTA for a field trip. They have not gone on a trip yet this year. Bridgett will check it out. Fran stated that the teachers would like some money to improve the teachers lounge. It was agreed to give the teachers $500 - this amount is equal to the "Tally Rally" funds given last year from Market Day profits.

FATHER JACK

Fr. Jack was not in attendance.

PRINCIPAL

Mr. Cavanaugh was not in attendance. Bridgett read report. He thanked the board for funding his communication requests for this year and next if necessary. Father Jack, Mr. Cavanaugh and Kathy Rothchild will meet to further discuss the location of picnic tables. The teachers have requested that the PTA increase their start up funds. Board approved $100/teacher. August 26th is the first day of school. It was requested that an open house, meet teachers, pick-up packets, PTA Meeting be prior to school starting. Board approved idea.

GENERAL BUSINESS

a) New PTA Board member nominations - 5 people have accepted to date

b) Ceiling Fans - no new information

c) Candle Sale - pickup date is 3/23 at Market Day. Profits will be $600. They will offer more sales at Market Day and possibly the Pancake Breakfast.

d) Playground - by April 1st new playground equipment should be distributed to each class. Approval on painting lines in parking lot has been received. Location of picnic tables is still under discussion. Gate and fencing estimates are forthcoming.

e) Board approved request of 1st grade to use field trip bus money for a speaker instead of bus.

NEW BUSINESS

a) Board voted not to contribute to general fund for 2002-2003 school year. Bridgett will compose

a letter stating this and send to temporal affairs.

b) Ice Cream Social - April 24th - breakdancers from St. Xavier High will be the entertainment.

c) Pancake Breakfast is April 21st.

d) Walk-a-thon - group suggested water bottles for grades K-4 and possibly something else for older grades. Pat will check with Jr. High next week.

e) Faculty Appreciation Dinner 5/14/02

f) Track and Field - June 5th. PTA will provide hot dog lunch

g) Graduation - June 6th - Graduation reception and dance plans underway

h) Elections for 2002/2003 year

i) Secretary Day - PTA agreed to purchase gifts certificates for all 3 secretaries. Kathy Downey will handle this.

j) May meeting will be at Bridgett's house for pot luck dinner.
