Welcoming/Opening Prayer
Chris Monzel called the meeting to order and led the group in prayer.
Secretary's Report
Meeting minutes from 2/23/05 were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer's Report
Account balance is $9,378.93. Total expenses for the month are $1,353.94. Total deposits for the month are $3,178.82. Treasurer's report was approved.
Pastor's Report
No report.
Principal's Report
Enrollment for next year is currently down by 30 students (graduating 48, only 18 new students coming in to date). Futures Committee is studying the demographics of Finneytown. The area is a very large elderly community. Committee is developing models to assist schools in planning. Recommendations are due in June.Bullying Policy - Jean is still looking for examples of bullying policies created by other schools. There is legislation in the State of Ohio that will require every school to have a bullying policy in the next two years.
The Internet Detective, Rick Sweeney, will provide a presentation on Wednesday, April 13th, at 7 p.m. that will last one hour. Following the presentation, Bridgett Raffenberg will perform a demonstration to parents on how to track the history of computer usage. Board approved paying for Rick Sweeney's presentation.
Old Business
A. Playground - PTA has been cleared to pursue installation of equipment behind the backstop. Chris Monzel and Mike Ward will have to investigate drainage issues and ensure property security with a backside fence. Next step is to develop drawings and costing. Will need to present plans to Fr. Gebhardt, Kathy Rothschild, Parish Council, and Temporal Affairs. Discussed asking Student Council for suggestions on what the students would want. Mike and/or Chris will follow-up with Randy Kent to see if his company can do the painting on the back parking lot once it is resurfaced. Discussed various options for improving activities available for indoor recess.B. Chuck E Cheese Night - PTA made $184 from the evening on March 3rd. Although it was not a huge money maker, most agreed it would be good to plan another one, especially when there is no school the next day.
C. Walk-A-Thon - Scheduled for Friday, May 6th. New route has been approved; Grades 5-8 will walk the perimeter of the school grounds. Donations are slowly coming in. Bonus points will be awarded for turning money in before the walk. Money was donated for purchasing an i-Pod.
D. Track and Field - Heather Batdorf will plan more over the next month. Will incorporate "The Amazing Race" as the theme. Chris will send Heather the list of volunteers for the event.
E. Graduation - No report.
F. Faculty Appreciation Dinner - Invitations need to go out about 1 month before. Still investigating where to hold it. Will make reminder calls to those invited in attempts of improving attendance.
G. Ice Cream Social - Will be held on Wednesday, April 27th, 7:00-9:00 pm. Mike Ward sent letter to UDF; will follow-up to ensure ice-cream donation is approved.
H. PTA Surveys - No report; update next month.
I. PTA Budget - Reminder for developing budget for next year.
J. St. Vivian Festival - Dates are June 17-19th.
K. Donut Sunday - Reminder to those assisting on April 10th: Amy Hagedorn and Mike Ward at 8:30 a.m. Mass (Mike to pick-up donuts), Chris Monzel and Heather Batdorf at 10:00 a.m. Mass, and Amy Miller and Anita Rudy at 11:30 a.m. Mass. Amy Hagedorn to provide Walk-A-Thon information at gathering.
New Business
A. Election of PTA Officers/Board for 2005-2006 - Margaret Hope-Maier, Debby Ruter, Emily Hutzel, Kathleen Belleman, and Rozell Winters agreed to serve on the Board next year. Elections were held for the various offices being vacated, with the results as follows: President - Shelley Hoesl, 1st Vice-President - Heather Batdorf, 2nd Vice-President - Amy Hagedorn, Recording Secretary - Julie Bergmann, Corresponding Secretary - Amy Gulleman-Miller, and Treasurer - Mike Ward.B. Moeller Greenhouse - 10% of all sales made the weekend of April 22, 23, and 24 will be donated to the school with a presentation of a flyer at time of sale. Shelley Hoesl will put flyer together and advertise via school notes and Quicklets.
C. Memories of Elvis - Vive' St. Vivian will be held on Saturday, September 17th, in the Activity Center.
