St Vivian PTA Minutes

January 21, 2004

 

Members Present

Nancy Slayton, Jean Margello, Janine Winters, Jacque Martens, Lori Spinnenweber, Tawnya McMahan, Anita Rudy, Judy Rolfert, Chris Monzel.

 

Welcoming/Opening Prayer

Meeting was called to order, and opened with a prayer.

 

Secretary's Report

Meeting minutes for 11/19 were reviewed and approved.

 

Treasurer's Report

Account balance is $11,859. Total expenses are $16,758. Deposits $28,617.

 

Pastor's Report

Fr. Kroeger was not in attendance.

 

Principal's Report

Mrs. Margello talked about the "Summer Vacation" Learning Programs that will be made available to the families for summer brain activity. This is offered by a company that also offers fundraising opportunities like Innisbrook and Entertainment Books. The rep will attend the next meeting with samples for the PTA to evaluate.

Preschool is adding another class, in the afternoon. Jean said that they have been turning away students that may turn into grade school students, so the decision was made to add a class. Details will be available for open house, January 24.

Jean also made a request for 2 TVs, a DVD/VCR combination player and a digital camera for the school's use. Motion was made to approve $700 for this purchase, and it was passed.

 

Old Business

Open House - PTA will have a booth, manned by Lori and Jacque. PTA is providing refrigerator magnets for all the families, and cookies for the kids on Tuesday. Nancy Slayton is chairing the Teacher appreciation lunch. All PTA members should bring a side dish in between 7:15 and 7:30.

Zone Book - sales are not as good as we hoped for, We're slashing the price $5 to $20, and we can sell them until the first week of February.

Pancake Breakfast with Santa - No report back form Heather Batdorf.

General PTA Meeting - Anita is scheduling Poison Control Center for a presentation at the March General meeting.

Teachers Wish List - Discussion around the fact that there are few PTA members this year, and it would be easier to give each teacher $200 was tabled until next meeting.

 

New Business

Walk-a-thon - Pat Yung is chair. This will be her last year. PTA normally buys a trinket for each participant. Tabled until next meeting.

Track And Field Day - Heather Batdorf is chair. This is the last Wednesday of the school year.

Graduation - Chaired by Kim Parker, Nancy Burke, with Help from Nancy Slayton and Lori Spinnenweber.

PTA Officers for next year - Lori would like the remaining 1st year members to consider positions for President, VP and Secretary. Next meeting, all of the members should bring 5 nominations for next year's board.

Meyer family fund - PTA motioned and Passed $100 donation to the Becky Meyer Fund.

 

 

Meeting was adjourned. Next meeting is February 18.
