Board Meeting Minutes
January 16, 2002
WELCOME/OPENING PRAYER
Mary Kent welcomed everyone and led the Board in prayer. Those in attendance:

SECRETARY'S REPORT
Minutes were accepted.
TREASURER'S REPORT
Fran presented her report. Innisbrook, and Jingle Bell Shop were paid off. Net Balance is $14,493.89 in the checking and $2,875.69 in Savings.
FATHER JACK
Fr. Jack was not in attendance.
PRINCIPAL
The Terra Nova Tests are back and will be going home soon. If any parents have questions, do not hesitate to call any of the teachers or Mr. Cavanaugh.The school should hear about Accreditation in March.
January 27th - Feb 2nd is Catholic Schools week. Jan 18th a handout went out.
The teachers and Mr. Cavanaugh have been reviewing the discipline policies for grade 5 - 8. It will be finalized this year. They will be separating the Academic from the Behavior. If anyone has any suggestions or knows of other plans from other schools, Mr. Cavanaugh is looking for ideas.
GENERAL BUSINESS
A. Jan. 24th will be a PTA sponsored parent seminar on Plan 529 for College funds by Jim Feldman at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria.B. Feb. 2nd the PTA will supply ice cream cups to all the children at school. Because we were late ordering we will have to pay for them.
C. The school requested funds for Catholic Schools Week items. $200 was approved for removable bumper stickers and posters. Mr. Cavanaugh would see to the details.
D. Kathy Downey is still working on getting St. Xavier's Break Dance Club for the Ice Cream Social.
E. Pancake Breakfast is on for April 21st.
F. Santa Shop went well. Profit was $25. Laura Hagen and Theresa Eve will run again if it remains a Service Project
G. The Christmas ornaments sold well. Collected $690. Profit is $200. Still have 60 ornaments left. Next year we will not order as many.
H. The teachers thank us for the Christmas Dinner at Geofreys in White Oak
I. Everybody Counts is getting geared up to present the program in March
J. Playground Equipment group met earlier tonight. Hopefully will have items decided upon soon. They would like the teachers to tell them what they already have. Please give to Kathy Downey.
K. Nancy Burke presented her find on ceiling fans. We will be purchasing from Home Depot at a contractor's price. We will be putting in 2 per room and start will the lower grades. Hopefully there will be enough funds to cover all the rooms. Mr. Cavanaugh will ask Paul about installing them.
L. Linda Dodd Memorial stones have reached there goal. Only a few more stones remain.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Feb 14 is Parent / Teacher's Conferences. The teachers will have their dinner from 5 - 6.B. Bridgett Raffenberg presented a P & G survey It was decided that we would not do this one because it was to little money for too much time.
C. Walk-a-Thon (May 3) group will be called soon by Mary Doyle to start our planning. We need prize offers from stores. Please send anything you have. A letter will go out for items.
D. The Faculty, Staff, Volunteer and PTA Appreciation Dinner will be in May at the Grove.
E. Track & Field Day is June 5th.
F. Graduation Date needs to be set so the entertainment can be scheduled. Mr. Cavanaugh will find a date.
G. Bridgett Raffenberg introduced a candle fundraiser for scented candles. We will make $1.50 per candle. She will see if they can come on conference night.
H. Theresa Eve showed us a "Welcome to Kindergarten" card that Finneytown gives to new students. She would like St. Vivian to consider something as well.
I. Next month is the time to submit names for new officers.
