Welcoming/Opening Prayer
Anita Rudy called the meeting to order and led the group in prayer.
Secretary's Report
Meeting minutes from 1/19/05 were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer's Report
Account balance is $7,554.05. Total expenses for the month are $2,879.36. Total deposits for the month are $425.98.
Pastor's Report
No report.
Principal's Report
Parent/Teacher Conferences are finished.Bridgett Raffenberg inquired on the possibility of PTA sponsoring a meeting with a speaker to discuss Internet abuses. Anita Rudy will investigate the feasibility of holding a General Meeting in April and obtaining the services of Mr. Rick Sweeney, Hamilton County Sheriff. The target audience would be the parents of children in Grades 5 through 8.
Jean requested assistance in figuring out what information to include each week in the Friday notes from the Handbook. Shelley Hoesl offered help.
Old Business
A. Playground - Majority of Parish Council thought the idea of playground improvements was a great idea. Need to refine where the playground would be located. It was suggested to go forward with Phase I of the project (paint activities on newly painted parking lot, install basketball hoops, install tetherball court). Chris Monzel and Mike Ward to follow-up with Parish Council.B. Chuck E Cheese Night - Heather Batdorf is following up with Chuck E Cheese on stickers and flyers. Will request advertisement of event on church marquee. Event is scheduled for Thursday, March 3.
C. Walk-A-Thon - Scheduled for Friday, May 6th. Janine Winters to provide Amy Hagedorn with a list of available prizes from Sally Foster fundraiser. Amy will inquire via Friday Notes if anyone has a connection to get an i-Pod donated as a prize. Board agreed to purchase T-Shirts for each student participating in the Walk-A-Thon. Suggestion was made to investigate the possibility of finding a business sponsor to help defray the cost of the T-Shirts. Suggestion was also made to hold a T-Shirt Design contest to boost support for the event. Amy Grider will follow-up on getting bottled water from Sam's Club for the event.
D. Track and Field - Heather Batdorf will plan more over the next month. Suggestion was made to incorporate a theme into the event (i.e., Survivor, Amazing Race, etc.).
E. Graduation - Lori Spinnenweber spoke to Kim Parker. Plans are progressing.
F. Faculty Appreciation Dinner - No report.
G. Ice Cream Social - Will be held on Wednesday, April 27th, 7:00-9:00 pm. Anita Rudy contacted Children's Hospital's The Funny Companie Clowns as entertainment (clown used in prior years will be on vacation). Suggestion made to offer table (for literature) to Children's Hospital as way to advertise their services. Mike Ward sent letter to UDF; will follow-up to ensure ice-cream donation is approved.
H. PTA Officers/Next Year's Board - Names were suggested for possible candidates to fill 4 open slots on next year's PTA Board. Chris Monzel will forward a letter to each person requesting their consideration to service on the Board. If necessary, Jean Margello can offer additional suggestions on people to ask.
New Business
A. Jingle Bell Shop - No report.B. PTA Survey - Amy Grider reported on the findings from the PTA Survey sent out to parents. Nobody complained about having too many fundraisers. Amy Grider will summarize the survey results and will put them in a PTA Newsletter by the end of March. Suggestion was made to communicate expenses PTA covers for the school in Friday Notes.
C. PTA Budget for Next Year - Carryover item so it will not be forgotten. Will be up to next year's President/Treasurer to create (officers to be voted on in March).
D. St. Vivian Festival - Will be held the weekend of June 17-19. PTA typically donates a $150 basket for the event.
E. PTA Donut Sunday - PTA will sponsor Sunday, April 10th. Mike Ward will pick up the donuts. Amy Hagedorn and Mike Ward will cover the 8:30 a.m. Mass, Heather Batdorf and Chris Monzel will cover 10:00 a.m., and Anita Rudy and Amy Gulleman-Miller will cover 11:30 a.m. Amy Hagedorn will make sure there is information regarding the Walk-A-Thon at the function.
Other Business
A. The school received $800 for our participation in the Thanksgiving Race.B. Nobody showed to work Market Day in the month of February.
C. PTA bought a cart for Market Day.
D. Memories of Elvis starring Paul Halverstadt will be held the evening of Saturday, September, 17th, as a Fall Fellowship function.
