St. Vivian PTA

February 19, 2003

 

Welcoming/Opening Prayer: Meeting was called to order and Bill Cavanaugh opened with a Prayer.

 

General Membership Meeting: A General Membership meeting was held from 7:00 - 8:00 pm A presentation by Detective Rick Sweeney was given at that time on Internet Safety. Babysitting was provided for this as well as the business meeting that occurred after the presentation. Detective Sweeney provided helpful information and answered questions.

 

Secretary's Report: Minutes were reviewed and accepted. 

 

Treasurer's Report:

Transition from Northside Bank to Fifth Third Bank is almost completed.

Fifth Third Bank Balance: $5,366.68

Cash Flow Balance at Northside Bank: $8,590.90

Savings Account Balance: $2,911.51

 

Principal's Report:

Mr. Cavanaugh thanked PTA for the science assemblies.

Spaghetti Dinner and Band - went well and there were requests to have the band return which is a possibility.

Juggler - David Cain whose message is the gospel and he appeared at another school.

Computer Lab Update - A number of computers were donated and the school continues to accept any computers as well as furniture donations for the computers such as computer desks, carts, chairs. The school is presently waiting for the insurance check and once this is received the computers that had been stolen will be replaced. Currently the school is anticipating beginning computer classes again on 3/1/03. Originally it was discussed to wait to have computer classes until a security system was in place but this won't happen soon so classes will resume.

Security System - This is being looked into by Kathy Rothchild.

Phone System and Internet Access - The Security System is a first priority with a second priority being the phone system and internet access in classes.

Wish List - This has been shared with Kim but will be discussed at another time.

 

Old Business:

1. Ice Cream Social Update - Entertainment is still being explored.

2. Pancake Breakfast - Tentatively scheduled for 5/18/03

3. Teacher Appreciation Luncheon - Positive feedback was given.

4. Wish List - This will be discussed at another time.

 

New Business:

1. Walk-a-thon - Pat Yung indicated the kick off for the walk-a-thon will be the first week of April Money will be collected with pledges. Presently the committee is collecting donations.

2. Faculty/Staff Dinner Update - briefly provided.

3. Track and Field Update - briefly provided

4. Nominating Committee - Letters will be sent out and new board members will be announced at the ice cream social.

5. Robert's Rules - Kim Parker encouraged PTA members to review the by-laws.
