Welcoming/Opening Prayer
Meeting was called to order. A scripture from Romans 15:7 was read by Chris Monzel.
Secretary's Report
Meeting minutes from 5/19/04 were reviewed and approved.
Treasurer's Report
Account balance is $12,832.58. Total expenses since May are $5,727.35. A banking adjustment for the previous year totaling $1,487.19 was made. An invoice of $9,002.40 to cover the purchase of desks and chairs has been received but not yet paid.
Pastor's Report
Fr. Gebhardt was not in attendance. Parish Council has requested PTA's assistance with Parent Meeting to learn more about how to address abuse issues. More details to come.
Principal's Report
Open House will be held on Sunday, August 22, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Parent packets will be handed out and teachers will be in their classrooms.Enrollment for the 2004-2005 school year is down. Budgeted for 428 students and currently only have 403 students. As a result, the school is short $45,000.
Mr. Bill Hofbauer is the new music teacher.
Ms. Bridget Raffenberg has agreed to return as the school's computer teacher.
Fr. Binzer and Fr. Gebhardt will be attending the Teacher In-Service Day to review with the teachers how to answer questions and provide help to the children if they need it following the events over the past several months.
General Business
A. Sally Foster Sales - Janine Winters gave an overview of the new fall fundraiser. Kick-off is 9/10, with the campaign continuing until 9/27. Pick-up of purchased items will be 10/28-10/29. Issue surrounding check cashing will be addressed this year.B. School Supply List Update - Supplies have arrived and will be handed out during the Open House on 8/22.
C. Campbell Soup Labels - The pizza party for the winning class went well. Amy Zust took care of it.
D. Graduation - Reported that it went fine.
E. New Desks - PTA purchased new desks and chairs for the 4th and 5th grade classrooms. Jean Margello expressed her appreciation for the furniture.
F. Secret Pal - Barb Ballinger will continue to oversee this program.
G. Market Day - Fran Vanarsdall-Schwartz will continue to manage the paperwork side of the program. Nancy Slayton and Heather Batdorf will obtain volunteers to manage the Monthly Pick-Ups. Each grade in the school will be responsible for the pick-up day in an assigned month.
H. St. Vivian Parish Picnic - Mike Ward to follow-up with Sally Veatch to determine if PTA's assistance is needed for the event.
I. Santa Shop - Theresa Eve wants a successor for the event to train. Heather Batdorf will assist her this year. Julie Bergmann will also be involved.
J. Everybody Counts - Karen Rutz is overseeing this event.
New Business
A. Introduction of New Members - Each member present at the meeting introduced themselves, indicated their role in PTA, and mentioned what grade(s) their child(ren) is(are) in at the school.B. Constitution/By-Laws - All new board members were given a copy of the PTA Constitution and By-Laws to review.
C. Calendar - A PTA Calendar is being sent home at the beginning of the year in the Parent Packets.
D. Job Distribution List - Chris Monzel requested that each Board Member be involved in at least 2 jobs that the PTA oversees. A sign-up sheet was passed around.
E. School Directories - Linda Ortman felt it would be too cumbersome to add email addresses to the directory this year.
Other Business
A. Cafeteria - Amy Hagedorn has created the cafeteria work schedule for the new school year. It will be distributed in the Parent Packet.B. Donut Sunday - Parish Council has requested volunteers for overseeing Donut Sunday. PTA will manage this in the month of April. Julie Bergmann volunteered to get the donuts on that Sunday. PTA chose April in order to advertise the Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser.
C. PTA Dues - Dues will still be $5 per family this year. It was proposed that the dues be increased next year as well as the cost of additional copies of the school directories. This increase will need to be addressed prior to the 2005-2006 school year starts.
D. Snack for Teachers on Conference Days - Next meeting there will be a sign-up to provide snacks for the teachers on the day of conferences.
