St. Vivian PTA Meeting Minutes
August 8, 2007
In Attendance:
John Guagenti, Amy Gulleman-Miller, Amy Hagedorn, Jean Margello, Tami Prophater, Judy Rolfert, Sara Schindler, Lori Spinnenweber, Julie Stark, Susan Taylor, & Liz Wilking.
I. Welcome / Opening Prayer:

II. Board Member Introductions
III. Secretary’s Report:
A motion was made to approve the meeting minutes from May 16, 2007. Under “New Business,” John Guagenti was noted as the new recording secretary. The motion to approve was then accepted.
IV. Treasurer’s Report:
Financial ledger from previous PTA Treasurer to be transferred to Debbie Ruter. Some expenses from graduation are still pending.
V. Pastor’s Report:
Jean Margello announced that Father Paul has been busy with the Ministry Fair, which will occur in October. The planning meeting will be on 08/20/2007. The PTA is expected to participate.
VI. Principal’s Report:
Enrollment is now at 353 students with some registrations still out;
New Reading Series to begin for grades K-5;
New teachers for the 2007-2008 school year announced: Gretchen Preston (3rd Grade), Zachary Horstman (8th Grade), Darin Lewis (Art), and Sharon Davis will also be back for Computers.
VII. Old Business:
Track & Field Day went well. Additional ways to streamline the event to be explored;
PTA member e-mail/phone list reviewed;
8th grade graduation went well. Discussion about ensuring that parents are aware that they should sign their children in/out of the dance;
Discussion about past attempts to improve playground area, but money / land size has been inefficient;
A chairperson is still needed for Everybody Counts. PTA members were asked to sign up for at least two upcoming events.
VIII. New Business:
Discussion about need for six new air conditioning units for classrooms on the 3rd floor. Motion to approve $3,000.00 earmarked for new AC units; John will explore possible discount/donation options through contact at H.H.Gregg and follow up with Jean. Motion approved with full vote;
Discussion about possible variety for 3-8 service field trips. Will be revisited at 09/07 meeting;
PTA members signed up to call new families to welcome them to St. Vivian. This should occur prior to Open House;
Motion approved for electronic approval of PTA meeting minutes, which will be completed within one week after meeting and emailed to PTA members for approval. John will submit minutes to the website once approved;
Motion approved to provide teacher gifts of $100.00 per teacher in each grade level for classroom supplies/equipment;
All is Bright/Market Day fundraiser will occur from 09/07/07 - 09/21/07. Pumpkin Carving is scheduled for 10/29/2007;
Amy Hagedorn announced that cafeteria volunteers are needed. Shift time is 10:45 AM 12:30 PM. One person needed for the 1st Wednesday & Thursday of the month and two volunteers needed each day for the 3rd Tuesday through Thursday of the month. Liz Wilking suggested collaboration with other groups to fund a paid position for a cafeteria worker.
