Darrin announced that Maria Meyer stepped down from the Education Commission for personal reasons. Mary Wiley agreed to take her place for the remainder of the term.

 Reports:

Pastor
Father Paul approved an amendment to the constitution and by-laws in order to clarify who has voting rights at the June meeting. The amended version will state, "Newly elected members shall enter office at the end of the scheduled June meeting, at which time completed terms will expire."

Director of Youth Ministry/Religious Education

Jodie responded to the concern expressed at the last meeting over the lack of focus on adult faith formation at our meetings. Jodie explained to the commission that her position is responsible for children through high school. Some of the current programs for adult faith formation include Christ Renews His Parish, and the Thursday scripture classes that Deacon Larry and Evelyn Magg conduct. The pastoral associate usually is involved with adult faith formation, however we do not have a pastoral associate at this time. Some areas of concern at this time are a need for follow-up to the bereavement ministry and the ministry to the sick and homebound.

Matthew Kelly will be speaking at St. Vivian on January 20. He will also be back to do our full parish mission later in 2005.

Deacon Larry Magg is taking on responsibilities in R.C.I.A, marriage preparation, server training and annulments.

Jodie also announced upcoming events concerning Confirmation preparation, First Reconciliation and First Communion.

Principal

Darrin had suggested that the student council be revived. Jean got faculty input. It will meet 2 times a month starting in January. The children will be encouraged to vote for members based on how they can help the school, not on popularity.

We would like to survey freshmen after the first quarter to see what we at St. Vivian should do to prepare our students to be more successful in high school. Mark suggested surveying parents as well. The feedback could help us improve our program at St. Vivian.

We are in the process of finalizing our crisis plan. We will be consulting with Springfield Township Fire and Police departments in developing the plan.

Old Business

The Pastor approved the amendment to the constitution and by-laws. Darrin will send copies of it to be added to the official by-laws in the rectory.

 New Business

Due to the Matt Kelly revival, the January 20 meeting will be changed to January 27.

 Announcements

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Mark Merz and Dick Klus seconded it.

 Respectfully submitted by Joan Haber
