V. Opening Prayer

Father Jack shared the story of our nation's newest Saint, Mother Katherine.

 

VI. New Members

All welcomed the new commission members Lois Neltner, Lynne Morris, Bill Rice, the new principal William Cavanaugh, and the new teachers representatives Lindsay Byrnes and Lisa Renken. Joe noted that the alternates to the Education Commission, elected by the parish are Mary Kent, Paul Roth and Theresa McGoron.

 

VII. Approval of Minutes

Donna moved to accept with minor changes and Anita seconded. All members were in favor.

 

VIII. Reports

Pastoral Report - Father Jack
Scott Buzza is leaving to work at Xavier University. Applications are being accepted for his replacement.

The festival looks like the best ever. Thank you to Amy and Kirk Vonderhaar. Amy thanked all those who helped.

Mr. Vance has replaced the teaching spots that were open. Mrs. Armour and Mr. Valarian are leaving.

Religious Education/Pastoral Associate - Chris Siciliano

Parish Mission is for the whole family. It is scheduled for Sunday November 25 through 28.

Donna shared the books on cats and dogs that were given to the school library by the Education Commission in memory of Chris's mother. A faceplate will be placed in the books in her mother's memory.

 

Director of Youth Ministry/Religious ED - Jodie Bender

Co-ed softball with Little Flower has started.

The youth mission trip is set to leave Saturday morning June 23 for Savannah, Georgia. The group will stay at St. Michael's school on Tybee Island. 18 youths and 4 adults from St. Vivian, St. Barts, Little Flower, Victory and St. James White Oak are going.

Jodie related that she spoke to Kevin Vance about the statement to be added to the school handbook telling the school's policy on special needs children. This needs to be added for the accreditation process.

IX. Unfinished Business

Computer Lab
Donna shared an article in Family PC Magazine about how important computers are and the universal problem of not enough resources for teacher training once the hardware is in place. Mary Kay Berning is waiting to hear from FSN to help fix the computer problem.

 

Parent Survey

Handouts were given to the members to show how parents feel about St. Vivian. Overall, they rated the school positively.
