Only 5 board members present so we did not have an official quorum.  No voting took place at the April meeting.

C. Reading/Approval of Minutes from Previous Meeting: 5 board members present approved the March meeting notes. I will get the remaining needed approval via e:mail so we can post the March meeting notes.

 

D. TreasurerÕs Report: Brian Frey

Month end balance $64,629.00

Expecting revenue for the last fish fry (estimated inflow of $3,000)  Expenses from fish fry should be around $7,000.

Increased revenue due to Crosstown shootout, Golf Outing, and additional football game. 

Concession and gate revenue is down due to reduced number of home games this season.

Projected year end balance at $60,000

 

E. Report on Correspondence by Corresponding Secretary: Mark Ballinger

Mark posted the plea for Booster membership drive in the Sunday bullentin.

Lisa Johnston agreed to be the Commissioner for the Fall 2007.  Lisa will attend the CYO meeting scheduled for April 19th  2007. Dan Valerio will help Lisa prepare a tournament flyer.  Lisa agreed to have her name on the flyer since no tournament director has been identified.

Girls Volleyball Ð Andrew Burton:

Jenny HoehÕs daughter is not playing volleyball in the Fall so she will not be the tournament director for next season.  Andrew Burton is also looking for a replacement for the commissioner role since his daughter is not playing next season.  Andrew will stay on and help transition the next commissioner if needed.

I am assisting the Assumption track coaches, with the joint 3rd-4th grade team.

We have four boys from St Vivian's.  It's not too late to join if anyone is interested.

Our practices are mon and thur 6-7 at Finneytown.

Our first meet is sat 4/14 at Mariemont.

G. Reports on Unfinished Business:

A.     Report on Unfinished Business

1.      Identify Commissioners for 2007/2008 school year:

a.      Girls Basketball Tournament (Brian Hoffman is outgoing Director)

b.      Girls Basketball (Lisa Johnston will be Commissioner)

2.      Recruit new Board Members to replace people with expiring terms: Mark Ballinger is willing to do additional term, but also willing to step aside if someone new is interested in joining the board.  Brian Frey is willing to serve another term in the same capacity, Treasurer. Brian Hoffman and Dan Hawkins will serve another term. Dan Valerio asked Donalyn Hoh if she would serve on the Board.  Donalyn is interested. Dan to provide her more information.

3.      Issues with CYO allocation of basketball home games (See Valerio e-mail) Allocation of CYO Home Games -- CYO office did not reply to my first e-mail sent 17 March. I re-sent the e-mail on 5 April and have not had a reply to this message as of 7 April. It's Easter weekend so perhaps the CYO office is on Spring Break.

4.      New Floor for Activity Center Ð any new info from PPC special Finance Task Force? (Ballinger) No status change.  The FACT group has not met since last Booster meeting.  Mark Ballinger sent a note to Kathy Rothschild to see if there is an open window for installation this summer before we move forward.  Mark said there is no need to do any more work regarding the floor if the opportunity to install is not available.

5.      Gate Fees and Re-entry stamp (Rob Wilking) Ð update signage:  Rob still needs to contact Tom Bove to get sign changed.  New sign will be in place for the start of the Fall sports season

6.      LogoÕd entrance mats for Activity Center (Brian Frey, Dan Valerio) Ð Agreement reached with Fr. Paul that the mat with logo can stay. Need to clarify situation with Cintas and have mat returned.  Brian will follow-up with Dan Valerio on his conversation with Fr. Paul.  Not sure if the agreement reached was to place the logo mats in the rental program or if the BoosterÕs needed to purchase the mats

7.      Sabres backdrop for Team Pictures (Andrew Burton) Still working with Stan from All Star photo.  Andrew will get Stan and Tom Bove together to finalize the details.

8.      Boys Football, outcome of changes in program leadership and direction (Dan Hawkins, Kevin Hollman) The board voted by e:mail  to separate the head football coach and the commission roles.  Kevin Hollmann was installed as the new football commissioner.  Roger Stark, Kevin Hollman, and Dan Hawkins met with St. BartÕs to begin talks about the football program.  They plan to meet again after sign-ups before making any decisions.  Roger and Kevin plan on visiting the other schools that play in our program to introduce themselves and let them know they are still welcomed to play in our program. (St. Boniface, St James Wyoming, St. Francis DeSales) Dan Hawkins provided some quotes for reserve uniforms and pony team equipment.  The quotes will be delivered to Kevin Hollmann by Roger Stark.  The board members agreed the football program needs to name a head coach before sign-ups. The goal is to have a head coach named within the next two weeks.  The 5 board members present at the April meeting fully supports the new Football commissioner and any decisions he makes regarding the coaching staff.  There is a list of 15 potential parishoners willing to serve in some capacity to the football program, including head coach.   Football sign ups are April 24 from 6 Ð 8 PM.  Andrew Burton will contact Lisa Johnston to inform her of sign-ups.  Note: Dan Valerio to assist with flyer wording for sign-ups.

9.      St. Vivian / St. Barts combining into a ÒPastoral RegionÓ. No new info Ð keep on agenda as reminder.

10.    Dan Valerio can continue to be the St. Vivian tournament web page "web master" unless someone else wants to take it over. Right now it is just girls and boys basketball, but Volleyball could be added. Vision was to use the web page to make registration easier and to create revenue by publicizing sponsors (see Applebees and girls basketball) 

 

H. New Business:

 

1.      Andrew Burton is working with Kevin Hollmann on a display case for team photoÕs to be displayed in the Breezeway.  The concept is to display team pictures for each sport for the school year.  Andrew is providing the lexan and hinges and the hope is Kevin will provide the framing.

2.      A discussion took place about how to coach/handle a special needs child playing a sport.  After a lengthy discussion, it was determined a coaching issue that should be worked between the commissioner, coaches, and the affected parents.  Andrew to address coaching status for next season at the upcoming volleyball banquet.
