No deposits yet for golf outing. Some football concessions revenue also to be deposited.

F. Reports from Sport Commissioners:

 

1. Girls Basketball & Tournament:  Dan Valerio and Brian Hoffman:

Season half over. No issues requiring attention.

Tournament: ~ 30 teams entered. Expect to net ~ $2500. Scoreboard malfunctioned first weekend of tournament.

 

2. Boys Football:  Steve Crawford via e-mail

Down and distance marker at Finneytown HS was broken during a game. Marker was dropped late and a player ran into it. St. Vivian will pay for a replacement.

 

3. Boys Basketball:  Jim Haverland plus additional information from Jim Gantt

Number of teams: 3rd gr – 1; 4th gr – 3; 5th gr – 1; 6th gr – 2; 7th gr – 3; 8th gr – 4

Open gym started at St. Francis Center.

A/B splits on Oct 18

5th gr has 12 registered. May split, would need additional coach.

Coaches clinic at Moeller HS on November 4, $20/participant with 8 or more pre-registrations. Board agreed to pay for coaches to attend. Offer extended to both Girls and Boys coaches.

 

4. Girls Volleyball: Andrew Burton, Jenny Hoeh

Files transferred from Beth Hurd

Jenny Hoeh will run the tournament. Need to finalize dates with Jim Gantt.

6th grade has 17 players, will split into 2 teams, need a 2nd coach

3rd gr has 12 signed up

G. Reports on Unfinished Business

1.        Confirm Commissioners for the 2006/2007 school year.

a.        Track is still vacant. May combine with Assumption again.

2.        Identify Commissioners for 2007/2008 school year.

a.        Fall 2006 is last year Tom Kraemer will handle Boys Basketball Tournament

b.       Spring 2007 is last year Matt Hagen will handle Boys Baseball

c.        Fall 2006 is last year Brian Hoffman is running Girls Basketball Tournament

d.       Fall 2006 is Dan Valerio’s last year as Girls Basketball Commissioner and Girls Basketball Concessions Coordinator

3.        Replacement Board Member for Rozell Winters

a.        No change -- Bob Veatch available if needed.

4.        Draft policy on how to recognize 8th graders for their last home game in their respected sports, carryover from last year (Rob).  No change, Rob not present.

5.        Sponsorship of HS sports previously sponsored by Youth Group (Dan)

a.        Rosters from previous year provided to Dan. Will use to recruit a Commissioner.

 

H. New Business:

  1. Policy for using cafeteria tables (Dan). Football concessions used tables from cafeteria (which is permissible after notifying the Rectory) but kept them in the football storage room during the week between games instead of returning them to the cafeteria. Policy was clarified with the concessions coordinator
  2. Scoreboard malfunctioning. Jim Gantt will evaluate.
  3. Winter sports gym time: Jim Gantt will confirm winter Finneytown schedule with Chuck Grosser (FLSD). David VonBargen provided a contact for NCH schools. Dan Hawkins provided a contact for Green Hills.
  4. CPR training: Training brochure provided by Mrs. Margello was forwarded to Jim Haverland to review.
  5. New “Gate” table for gym (Dan): The second small table used for the “Gate” has been lost for some time. Regular sized tables are heavy and difficult to set up and take down. Board agreed a new small table could be purchased.
  6. Slipp Nott shoe cleaner base missing. Board agreed to purchase of new base.
  7. Suggestion to use teenage alumni to work concessions: Idea intended to compensate for difficulty getting parents to work concessions. After discussion, idea not accepted. Would require a new coordinator, HS aged kids are busy with own activities and from other experience would not be consistently reliable, would give parents one more excuse to not be involved.
