"Boosters Announcement - 2006 CYO TRACK & FIELD SEASON SUMMARY
This Spring, St. Vivian students participated in Track & Field with
Assumption Parish.
Luke Fiorini, James Allgeier, Tom Kacner, Xavier French, Nick Hawkins,
and Kyle Shoaf helped Assumption place 2nd at the CYO City tournament.
James set a new Assumption 7th grade Discus record throw of 80' 2".
James, Tom, and Xavier were on the 4X400 Relay team that set a new
Assumption record (4:51.60).
Olivia Schaefer helped the 5/6th grade team place 1st in the CYO city
tournament. Olivia set a new record for Assumption's 5th grade 800 meter run (3:04) and also helped set a new 4x400 record (5:39.55).
James Fiorini and Zachary Stephani helped the 5/6th boys team finish 4th in the CYO tournament. During the season Jacob McNamara set a new record in Assumption's boys 5th grade 800 meter run (3:03.28).
Congratulations to our student athletes. Thank you to the Assumption
Boosters, and Assumption Head Coach Len Carraher.

6. Baseball – Matt Hagen

Baseball Report for 6/12/06:
3rd Grade team ended the season 1 - 5
4th/5th Grade team ended the season 4 - 1 - 1
7th Grade team ended the season 5 - 1 and won the City Tournament, a
first since I have been Commissioner.
Need to collect uniforms and decide if spring sports will have a
banquet.

7. Boys Volleyball – Joan Eckart

Volleyball report:  Dinner at Cici's to wrap up the year was held on May 30th.  League games and Tournament games went well, no problems or complaints ( that I know about).  For the 8th graders last home game, I purchased 8 balloons, which were tied to their chair, and cookies for after the game.  It was simple but I think okay for the boys.

8. Girls Softball – Brian Eve

1) The 8th grade team was one of 5 teams to make the playoffs lossing in the first round.
2) All equipment has been returned to the softball storeage area in the boiler room.
3) All uniforms have been returned to the softball storeage are in the boiler room.
4) Future Commissioner (now officially vacant) - Brian Hoffman has expressed interest in doing it if we are able to get enough student athletes to have a 4th grade team next year. I will forward any and all communication from the CYO office to the booster board of '06-'07.
Future planning/Expense issues:
a) We have 3 very old (& in limited supply) sets of uniforms. We have made due for the last 6 years. At some point (soon), we will need new uniforms.
b) We were able to make it through this "transitional season" by not having to purchase new helmets with fask masks for it was only "recommended" and not mandatory. It is my understanding that it will be mandatory for next year. Here are the choices as I see it:
  i. Purchase at least 4 (or as many needed based on teams) new helmets with fask masks
ii. Purchase at least 4 (or as many needed based on teams) NOCSAE approved fask masks and put them on existing helmets.
- most, if not all of our helmets are very, very old and do not even meet the NOCSAE standards so my recommendation would be i. above but we did purchase a few new helmets 5 years ago and could get by if need be with ii. (selecting our best helmets - which frankly we have plenty in inventory).
I think that is everything but as always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
It has been my pleasure to serve the STV Booster Community and the many student athletes as the STV Softball Commissioner the last 6 years.
