A. Season is complete. Two teams made final weekend of CYO tournament.B. Banquet will be April 17.
3. Boys Basketball - Jim Haverland - Report via e-mail
A. Season is complete. Jim Gantt's team made the final game. Mark Ballinger's team made it to semifinal game.B. Banquet is April 10.
4. Boys Football - Steve Crawford
A. Uniforms - Kattus is not as cooperative as Cook's. Cook's jerseys are high quality with stitched logos and numbers. Approx. $46/jersey, could be same color scheme as reviewed at February meeting. Kattus' jerseys are $30 but rip easily. Will assess number of signups in April and decide how many jerseys to order. Will bring drawing of new logo to April meeting.B. Need to recruit JV coaches for the Fall 2005 season.
5. Track - John Fitzwater
A. Only one parent volunteered to be at practices to help John coach. Team should already be practicing. Meets start week after Easter. Bulletin and Quicklets notices did not get response. Not enough adults to abide by Child Protection Decree. Recommendation to cancel the season. Families will be reimbursed. Cheryl will put notice in Quicklets.6. Boys Baseball - Matt Hagen
A. Two teams. Uniforms handed out. Season starts April 3 and runs for seven Sundays.7. Boys Volleyball &endash; Joan Eckart
A. 4th and 7th grade teams formed.B. No Concessions Manager yet, will check with 4th grade parents.
8. Girls Softball - Brian Eve
A. One combined team with Assumption. Will play as an Assumption team.
G. Reports on Unfinished Business
1. Finneytown BOE Facility Policy: Chuck Grosser (Finneytown Administration) presented Brian a proposed schedule for 2005/2006 gym usage. Brian would like to swap time at Brent or Cottonwood for time at Whittaker so both St. Vivian and FAA get longer continuous blocks of time in an evening. Brian will counter propose to Chuck.2. Replacing Monte Carlo with Texas Hold'em: No discussion. Will keep on agenda to keep discussion going.
3. Job descriptions of Board Members, Commissioners, Directors: Reminder to complete written descriptions.
4. Recruiting for Board, Commissioners, Directors: Reminder, nominations needed for April Meeting.
H. New Business
1. Fish Fry update - Plan for workers in 2006: Two ideas discussed: a) Assign each fish fry week to a specific grade; b) Create a Recruiter Coordinator position. No final decision.2. Fee structure for 2005-06 boosters fee, registrations for each sport, concessions, and gate: Will vote on fee structure in April meeting. Increases in Gate and Concessions discussed again, to keep pace with other CYO parishes. Option discussed to implement large family Booster Fee increase with option to be reimbursed depending on volunteer hours worked.
3. Nominations for 2005-06 Boosters: Reminder to recruit.
4. Budget Requests for 2005-06 (automatic external defibrillator, electronic possession arrow, increasing sports banquet budget by $1/participant). No new discussion, to be voted on by new Board at August meeting.
5. Volunteerism / Pledge Letter: Brian will speak at Girls VB and Boys BB banquets about what Boosters do, and need for new leadership.
6. A/B Split of teams: Proposal to make A/B split at 6th grade instead of current policy of 7th grade splits. Discussed pros/cons of splitting in 6th: CYO rules changes at 6th grade (e.g. full court defense in basketball), opportunity to have more balanced teams starting at 6th grade, stigma that can be created for children not on the "A" team. Issue does not affect Fall sports (no A/B in football, no 6th grade girls basketball team assuming same girls as 2004 season) so will defer final decision until new Board begins in Fall 2005.
7. Volleyball Standards for Finneytown Local School District - Idea to buy standards for Finneytown so St. Vivian volleyball teams would have option to practice away from St. Vivian and improve scheduling flexibility. Decision to table idea until 2005/2006 season, assess if action is needed.
I. Next Meeting - April 11, 2005, 7:00pm, in rectory basement
J. Close of Meeting - Concluded at 9:15 pm.
K. Closing Prayer - Led by Brian Eve.
Respectfully submitted by Dan Valerio, April 11, 2005
